12-01 Business Systems Analyst

Description:

This position will serve as the primary liaison between our Information Services department and our end-users.

Duties:

  • Analyze existing, as well as planned, business practices for the purpose of creating the most feasible information technology solutions for Sprague.
  • Define and document functional business requirements in support of above analysis where change is desirable.
  • Work as a member of a team composed of users, analysts, developers, project managers and infrastructure personnel to design cost effective technology solutions in support of functional business requirements.
  • Create business functional scripts that will strenuously test all application additions or enhancements. Work with user community in performing these tests noting any issues back to the appropriate technical team.
  • Work with both the user community and the technical team in the design and implementation of necessary conversion procedures to insure a clean and timely transition to newly developed or enhanced systems.
  • Work with the user community to insure that all team members are adequately trained in the use of all implemented systems within this position’s area of responsibility.
  • Develop and oversee all implementation plans for new or enhanced systems within this position’s area of responsibility.
  • Maintain documentation of IT Controls in support of Sarbanes Oxley Rule 404 compliance requirements.
  • Support the user community in the use of all information systems within the area of responsibility. Any technical issues found as a part of this process will be clearly spelled out to the technical teams for resolution.
  • Assist management and the user community in the evaluation of all proposed vendor software packages.
  • Participate in all merger/acquisition activities insuring that information needs that result from this process will be met in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of 3-5 yrs of experience or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required skills and abilities.
  • 4+ years of business analyst experience in the energy industry.
  • Highly desired previous experience and knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley Rule 404 compliance requirements as they relate to IT controls and processes.
  • Highly desired previous experience with the following systems dependent upon area of responsibility:
      Commercial & Operations
    • Deal capture Contracts & confirmations
    • Middleware / messaging
    • Billing
    • Risk (P&L, position, mark to market & VAR)
    • Credit
    • Scheduling
    • Settlement
    • Customer relationship management
    • Rack marketing
    • C&I marketing
    • Terminal & trucking operations (tank gauging, dispatch, safety, transportation)
      Back Office
    • Accounts payable
    • Accounts receivable
    • General ledger
    • Fixed assets
    • Budget
    • Financial analysis & reporting
    • Purchasing and procurement
    • HRIS
    • Tax
    • Legal
    • Image management
    • Records management
  • Solid understanding of business analysis techniques/tools and project management methodologies
  • Excellent documentation and project planning experience
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize workload, perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment and relate to customers/outside contacts and fellow employees.
